The Jewish Qaballah is a map of the multi-dimensional worlds. based on 10 Spheres of Consciousness or Sephirot. It is a cosmic Journey from the Above down to the Below, from Kether to Malkuth, Heaven to Earth. The pinnacle is Keter, Number 1 of 10, the highest or Supreme, the Adam Kadmon, the Primordial Man, the Crown, the Ain Sof Aur or Infinite Luminous Light, the space where we merge with the Divine.
Stay with me as I weave you through this Cube of Space (Qaballah comes from “Qaba” meaning Cube in Arabic) guiding you to a deeper understanding as to the origin of the Judaic Christmas Tree.
A lightning bolt can be seen descending down through the Jacob’s Ladder of the 4 Worlds of Atziluth (the Archetypal, having no shape or form, the Essential Self, the Spiritual Code that we are before we Incarnate), thru Briah the creative, the creation, observing our Ego, thru Yetzirah, the formative, the formation, the information, the space where we assume shape and form with the world of the Angels, the Animal Self and finally thru Assiah, the Bodily Self, where we manifest, take incarnation, completing the physical Creation.
Though, we must pass through The Veil, and the Wall and then the Abyss of Da’ath!
Amidst this web of 10 Circles or 10 Dimensions, is an invisible 11th, akin to the 11-dim String Theory, called Da’ath (or Knowledge) which I consider to be the wormhole or portal that allows access to the Many Worlds, it is located above the 6th Sephirot called Tip’areth or the Heart, the Sun, the centre of this model, so Da’at is really the Higher Heart, the gateway before the Ain Sof. The geometry governing this invisible sphere is the infinite possibility of nesting the Icosahedron inside the Dodecahedron based on the Golden Ratio or Divine Phi Proportion that is Scale Invariant, meaning we can travel to the Atom or to the Universe non-destructively.
This 10-circle map of the cosmos contains an infinitude of cryptic meanings, layers and arcane wisdom. To arrive at the base of the Christmas Tree, let us now observe 3 spheres that form an Astral Triad: being 7 or Netzah, connecting to 8 or Hod, connecting to 9 or Yesod. 7 or Netzah is Victory, victory over the senses, ruled by the Goddess Aphrodite or Venus, it is endurance, art, beauty, creativity. It links to 8 or Hod which is Majesty and relates to the planet Mercury that loves the Mind of Mathematics and Philosophy.
As they both join to 9 or Yesod or Foundation, which is the realm of the Moon that governs our emotions, this triangulated energy become the cosmic artisan, the mystical musician, the dreaming sculptor striving to express his or her Soul. Now this Triangle, could connect to the Sphere of 10 or Malkuth, or Earth, and form a downward pointing Tetrahedron, which is about Incarnation at the physical level, but this Soul is now off the wheel of karma, having its last Incarnation, and seeks to send upwards 3 long arrows to the Apex, to the utmost Zenith, the Sphere of Oneness, Keter, to complete its Initiation back to Home to Source. So what forms, is more than just a flat elongated triangle, but rather a 3-dimensional Phi-based elongated Tetrahedral prism. Now visualize from the top of this Pyramid, down to the base, is a continuous vortex of energy forming a cone of spinning light.
This is the true Tree of Light, the Christmas Tree where we place our gifts of gratitude at its base, where we decorate its peak with a pentacle of light, where we place colourful baubles or little spheres upon its branches, for these are the potent symbols of the planets, of our solar system.
As humans, to please our inquisitive Mind, we need symbols with such deep meanings to feel that we belong to some super-structure that exists within and without, that we are the bridge between all worlds.

“The essence of the Magical Qabalah,
which is the practical application of the Tree of Life,
is to develop these magnetic circuits of the different levels,
and so strengthen and reinforce the soul.”
(The Mystical Qabalah, by Dion Fortune p.214)
